I feel for Augusta Longbottom, and understand Ashley's point as well. It would be hypocritical of me to say I hadn't held out hope for quite a long time that even the most purist of my friends and loved ones would hold the essentially good goals of such an organization above their own ideals. And yet every meeting, I was disappointed. But I didn't ever say anything. I only continued to go to the meetings because it was expected of me, and Merlin knows I didn't want to give them more reason to suspect me of fraternizing with someone they deemed unworthy.
But I was cut off from all of it the moment my disownment was solidified. No more owls, certainly no more invitations. I'd highly suspect they would have perhaps even found a reason to deny any money I might have tried to give - if I'd had any at the time.
Perhaps it's the times - now that the Death Eaters are here, with their disgusting broadcasts, their fear-mongering, perhaps Walburga and her friends have finally dropped some pretenses they very pathetically attempted to with hold before. Or perhaps it's the opposite. Now that there are those actually taking action on such bigotry, the members that don't support the selective attitude of the 'charity' feel the need to finally speak up against it. I wonder if anyone ever protested when I

Rodolphus surely follows in his footsteps.
And Bella...? If it weren't for their views of women... still. If anyone could break that barrier down, it would be my sister. Sirius has suspected as much for ages now, of course. I'd be lying if I hadn't assumed, to an extent, but to hear that a Lestrange has been arrested. Bella could be next. She would no doubt deserve it.
Yet I still feel slightly nauseous.

I'm relieved and proud to hear the DMLE having caught one of them, though. I just hope Mr. Moody and Ms. Meadowes recover quickly.

So now that we know that Molly's expecting a little girl, I thought now might be a good time to ask: has anyone taken on the task of a baby shower for this one her yet? If not, I'd gladly start on the planning.
Also, Fabian, I'm assuming since I haven't seen any screeching over the journals that you decided not to follow through on attending Jamie's wedding?

Ted and I plan to come by for the twins' birthday tomorrow with Dora, but I'm thinking it's been too long since we've had an afternoon together, Molly. You need to fill me in on all your little girl plans - oh, and I can bring by Dora's old things, if you'd like.

How dare they mention us again. If I were I don't want to announce this to the world, I don't want to be a target any further, but I thought I would let some of you know, at least, that the Order's wards are the only reason that these 'impassioned' Death Eaters were unable to get into our home that night. I don't want to be involved with any sort of vigilante group, especially when it may mean more harm than good, but... I can't deny that they saved our lives. I can't. I don't agree with the way this Order takes the law into their own hands, but I can't accept that they are the same as those murderers and torturers, either.

He's doing much better today, so it seems my panic may have been a bit premature. We're lucky that it's the worst he suffered. But still, thank you, for last night. I can't say this sincerely enough, but it humbles me, to see just how we have such wonderful, supportive people in our lives. Thank you.
If you insist on doing anything for us in the meantime, well... Ted's appetite seems to be undamaged. I doubt he'd turn away anything sent. And my ham and cheese sandwiches are only so good.

Dora is still obsessing over the idea of "New Year's Resolutions", even with the latest snowfall. I'll never cease to be amazed at her ability to be so enthusiastic about so many different things at one time. I've taken up writing her list of resolutions on a scroll to hang in the kitchen. Why not foster the idea of setting goals and fresh starts, I thought. Well... some of her resolutions are a bit... unusual:
Listen to every record in Daddy's collection - TWICE
Practice my writing every night [except when Mum forgets to ask about it]
Learn how to play the GUITAR
Learn how to play the DRUMS
Make the best snowman!! - accomplished!
Have different colour hair every week ALL year!
Visit a DINOSAUR museum
Invent a time machine so I can go back to all my birthday parties again
Play QUIDDITCH
Study lessons more days than one week

It seems like I'm the only one not up in arms over this Unforgivable business. Of course the Pureblooded elite are - Merlin forbid anyone get their hands dirty and/or they're involved on the opposing side of the Aurors. And then everyone else... of course it's unfortunate and distasteful, and I'd rather it not be necessary, but if methods need to adapt to keep order... I can't say I would be opposed to doing whatever it absolutely took to protect my family if need be. If the Minister feels the Aurors need to be equally as ruthless - They may have taken Regulus from me already. I just want this war done with, and things safe again, and if it takes the defensive Killing Curse to do so...
So be it.

This is unsettling, but... well. What they've been doing thus far hasn't exactly been working either, has it?
Whatever else has been going on, Dora had a brilliant time this New Year. Fireworks are her new old favourite thing - I believe the idea of explosions for their own sake is something she's taken to a bit well over the last few years. She changed her hair colour to match each new firework, and today is wearing it in a striking sort of rainbow that blossoms out from the crown of her head. I think that it actually took her some thought to do this one, so I'm rather proud that it's so intricate. Of course rainbow hair goes with none of her clothes, but I don't think she seems to mind.
At any rate, to anyone I haven't had a chance to catch since midnight Sunday: I hope everyone's had the happiest new year manageable, and is enjoying what time off there's been offered.
